Hello! I am Dr. Jake Beckstrand, and I grew up in the modest town of Moorpark California. Some of my favorite childhood memories are trips to the beach and Disneyland. I’ve always been a big Lakers and Dodgers fan—but I’m starting to warm up to the Suns and Diamondbacks!
When I was 13, my family moved to Saint George, Utah, where I spent the remainder of my youth. In 2011, I had the amazing opportunity to live in Japan for several years. I fell in love with the culture, the food, and the incredible people I met during my time there. Shortly after returning to the U.S., I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Dixie State University and married my amazing wife, Jazmine, in 2016.
We moved to Salt Lake City so I could attend the University of Utah School of Dentistry, where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2020. From there, we headed to Wisconsin so I could pursue my dream of becoming an orthodontist. I completed my Orthodontic Residency at Marquette University and received my Master of Science degree in 2022.
Jazmine and I now have three wonderful boys—Jordan, Grayson, and Liam—who keep us on our toes! When I’m not in the office, you can usually find me playing the piano, singing, shooting hoops, hiking, or just enjoying time with my family.
I’m passionate about helping people achieve confident, healthy smiles, and I feel so lucky to do what I love every day. I look forward to meeting you and being part of your smile journey!
Dr. Peterson has been practicing orthodontics for over 20 years! He loves creating beautiful smiles and having fun along the way! Yet as much as he enjoys seeing smiles transform, it’s the connection with people that makes his profession so wonderful to him.
Dr. Peterson graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 2002 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He then completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the University of Utah Hospital in 2003. After that, Dr Peterson attended Saint Louis University’s Center for Advanced Dental Education where he earned his Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in the specialty of Orthodontics.
Dr. Peterson believes in excellence, and he strives to give each patient a beautiful, healthy smile. His colleagues and patient’s would describe him as a caring, compassionate, excellent and fun doctor. He values kindness, and truly wants every patient to have a wonderful orthodontic experience.
Dr. Peterson is also committed to the profession, to learning and to advancing. He’s stays up-to-date through continuing education courses and study clubs. He also works for Winslow Indian Health Care Center (WIHCC) as a clinical orthodontist and instructor. There, he provides lectures to the dental residents and teaches them interdisciplinary concepts that will help them in their profession. Clinically, he is there to serve the Native American population by creating amazing smiles! He loves his work!
On a personal note, Dr. Peterson is blessed to have a wonderful, supportive family. His wife, Angela is also in the dental profession and practices dental hygiene. They have 2 wonderful kids – Luke and Reese – that keep them very busy! 🙂 When Dr. Peterson isn’t in the office, he loves spending his time with his family, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors. Another fun fact is that Dr. Peterson is fluent in Spanish, and loves to take opportunities to practice it!
